Funmi Ekundayo is an Alumna of the Harvard Business School and member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators, United Kingdom and Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree and Master of Laws degree f rom the University of Lagos. Funmi is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (FCIS} and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FloD).
Funmi currently serves as the President & Chairman of Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN}, a remarkable feat having emerged the first female president of the Institute, fifty-seven (57} years after the professional body was founded. She is also the Immediate Past President of the Association of Corporate Trustees of Nigeria; Fellow, Institute of Investment and Portfolio Managers and Fellow, Portfolio Management Institute (Chartered). Funmi is an Alumna of the Lagos Business School (Chief Executive Programme) and the IESE Business School, Barcelona, Spain. Funmi serves as a Non-Executive Director and Independent Director on the Board of a number of Companies. At the national level, Funmi served as a Non-Executive Board member of the National Investor Protection Fund and she also served as a member of the National Savings Strategy Scheme. She has attended and trained at several training courses locally and internationally on leadership, governance, finance, innovation and strategy.
A Lawyer by profession, Funmi began her career with the Law Firm of Bentley, Edu & Co (in association with IRVING & BONNAR), where she spent close to a decade in Law practice. She later joined Sterling Asset Management & Trustees Limited (formerly NAL Asset Management & Trustees Limited) before moving to United Capital Trustees Limited (Formerly UBA Trustees) as Head, Business Development & Marketing. Thereafter, she joined STL Trustees (Formerly Skye Trustees Limited) as an Assistant General Manager, Business Development, from where she rose to become the MD/CEO of the Company. Funmi has distinguished herself in her area of core competence as a seasoned Trust specialist engaging in the structuring of complex Legal, Financial and Trust instruments. She has provided demonstrated leadership that has been critical to the success and growth of STL as a bespoke Trusts Services Provider of choice and as a business enterprise.
As far as laurels and awards go, Funmi has been widely recognized as a CEO who has excellently managed STL Trustees Limited to the point of recognition as a first-rank leader in the Trusteeship industry in Nigeria, promoted excellence amongst CEOs in the Corporate Trusteeship business, and promoted a high professional and corporate governance standards amongst corporations.
